Come check out the club and learn more about the ASA and schutzhund (IPO) during one of our twice weekly training sessions. Bring your family along and just watch or feel free to participate with your dog. A $10 donation is requested for each visit.
Please contact us to let us know that you’ll be visiting to ensure that someone will be available to greet you.
Training sessions begin at 10am every Saturday morning and 6:30pm every Wednesday night. We are training rain or shine (or blizzard!) year round. Washroom facilities are onsite and we have snacks and beverages available as well. There is also shelter from the elements for you and your dog. Remember to dress for the weather, bring a collar, leash, and food and/or toys for your dog. It is recommended that your dog be up-to-date on their vaccinations before attending. All dogs must remain crated or in your vehicle when not training on the field.
All breeds and mixed breeds are welcome at the ASA. While most of us start foundation training with pups at 8 weeks old, mature dogs can also participate. Obedience is essential at any age. Tracking and protection training are optional, and dependent on your dog’s abilities.
Membership is considered once you’ve attended training a few times and have had the opportunity to see if schutzhund (IPO) is the right sport for you and your dog. The fee is $175/yr to join and includes the benefit of unlimited access to ASA grounds. If you intend to compete in this sport, you must also obtain a membership with the GSSCC.
